It is hard to narrow it down to 5 but if you look at the last 10 years and who has had several ranked jumpers I think Brian Compton at Arkansas has to be inclulded on any list. Not just because he had two girls over 14' this year but because he has had several vaulters at the national level for the last 10 years. Tom Hays is another one who has consistently had good jumpers for several years now. We are blessed with many great coaches in the US. My top 5 would be Compton, Hays, Curran, Akron Zip Dennis, and Joe Dial.

I am making the assumption that the question is in reference to living coaches. If that is the fact, then the BYU vault coach canot be included. The past BYU vault coach (Larry Berryhill) died on August 27 (?) of this last year. However, in living he well earned the right to be included.

He has not been coaching at BYU for several years, any recent success has to be attributed to others.

The way the question was posed, I think DrakJr was referring to active coaches.

The Credit for the BYU Vaulters goes to Jeremy Bailey for 06 and 07. Then Eric Rassmusson deserves the credit for 08 and 09 and Eric is the current coach for the women's program and helps with the men. Eric is very good and there should be a number of all americans that come out of BYU for the next few years as long as he is there. Berryhill has not been at BYU since 05 then retired.

This is a tough question, and biased towards your region.
but, that I know of and have talked too...
1- David Butler
2- Tom Hays
after that I don't feel I know enough about their philosophies.
