Athens 2004 Vault videos on DVD

Unread postby dafox » Tue Dec 28, 2004 3:42 pm

Free 2004 Athens Vault Video on DVD - with a donation to my schools track team (I'm pretty sure its tax deductible)

Make a $10 donation to Edison HS Boys Track Boosters, and get this DVD (shipped) as our thanks. All the money donated will go to either poles or maybe even a new runway.

Mailing address:
EHS Track
c/o Nate Fox
9391 Southshore Dr
Huntington Beach, CA 92646

PLEASE remember to put your mailing address in with the check. If you dont, I'll assume you didnt want a DVD, and we'll be thankful for the donation! Include your email too, and I'll let you know when your DVD ships.

Make checks payable to: Edison HS Boys Track Boosters

DVD Contains:
62 jumps
28 minutes of footage
Nearly every jump has multiple angles.
Includes Isinbayeva's 4.91m WR, Toby's 5.85m make and Tim's 5.95m make.
I included the mpeg files on it, so you can do frame-by-frame on your PC (if you have a DVD-rom)
Sample footage here: http://s94654184.onlinehome.us/pv/

Back in August, NBC showed 24x7 footage of the olympics on their HDTV channel. This footage was WAY more than anyone saw on the regular network. I bought the equipment and recorded as much vaulting as I could. After processing well over 40Gb of video, I've put it all together. Its not perfect, its not professional. If you want a nice DVD, go get NeoVault. Actually, go get NeoVault anyways. Those guys rock. This is just a little fund raiser. NBC (and prolly even IOC) would prolly not like me if they found out, so I'm tryin to keep this relatively low key.

A little bit about our program:
I vaulted at Edison HS (in Huntington Beach, CA) and graduated in 1996. I have since gone back to coach, and am going into my 3rd full year. Past standouts include Aaron Corbett (15-8) and Brendan Pena (15-1). Current jumpers include Kelly MacLean (last year Jr PR = 11'6"), Tori Pena (last year So PR = 12'1"), Aaron Roy (last year So PR = 12'6"), Ross Bedard (last year So PR = 12'). As you can see, we're a young crew (we've got LOTS more kids), and we're growing rapidly. We need a bunch of new poles (much thanks to Rick Foster of Cal Track Reconditioning http://www.caltrackreconditioning.com for letting us borrow a TON of poles) cause these dang kids keep improving! We also need a new runway, but I'm not sure how much this fundraiser is going to bring in, so I'm not holding my breath. (shameless plug) I also run an online meet entries web site: http://www.episports.com if you know anyone running a meet and they want to do online entries (end shameless plug)

Also, I'm looking into the tax deductable part. I'm pretty sure it is, and if so, we'll include a reciept with your DVD so you can use that to get by the IRS this year :)

Oh, if yer goin to Reno, I'll prolly bring a bunch there too. Find me and say hi! Its my birthday that Saturday. I cant wait!

Thanks,
Nate Fox

A few notes:

1. I've been asked if you can donate cash. Yes, thats not a problem. Just be sure to wrap the cash in a piece of paper or use a security envelope. A postal worker may see through the envelope, see cash in there, and 'magically' the envelope is never delivered :(

2. The DVDs are burned (not manufactured). They may not work on older (like 3yrs old) DVD players or super cheapo players. If you have one like this, let me know, I'll try to get the best DVD I can, or include a CD that you can at least play on your PC.

3. Each video segment has chapters. Each chapter is each person's jump. If you want to fast fwd, just hit the skip button.

Hey, let's find each other in Reno. I'd like to make a donation to your program & get a copy.

I'll be doing a presentation about the Pole Vault Safety Certification Board (see www.pvscb.com) with Jan Johnson on Sat. morning (you could find me there). I also plan on jumping in the masters competition on Sat. night. I suppose that I look a lot like my picture.

See ya there,
Russ

This DVD is really cool  I just might have to get HDTV by the 2008 Olympics, just to see this much footage.

this DVD is awesome, even shows the "not-so-good" jumps at the prelims. ( i use the term "not so good" because they don't look as good as the 19+ jumps...)

everyone should buy this- great music on it too. good work "dafox" :P

Until then, you'll have to come by my place to watch HDTV. It's getting installed starting Thursday.

Just in time for the Super-Duper Bowl.
