I need a pole vaulting pit

Unread postby formerswimmer » Sat Apr 17, 2010 6:52 pm

Seeing as there are limited options to vault here in Oregon, I have been vaulting on a variety of mattresses. I would like a pole vaulting pit just so I don't die one day as a result of lack of equipment. I'd appreciate the help in finding a pit, thanks!

Where in Oregon are you? That's actually a pretty good state for pole vaulting opportunities.

There is a club in Beaverton: http://www.aircavvault.com/ and a very good year-round indoor facility in Oregon City: http://www.willamettestriders.com/

It's going to be a lot cheaper to train at a club than to buy pits, plus then you actually get coaching. Even used pits usually cost at least $5000.

Thank you, I live a good hour and half from Beaverton and about 2 hours from Oregon City though.

That's still a lot cheaper than buying a pit... if your school does not have a legal pit, they should not be letting you practice there.
