Hey I don't know how many people have girls competing this year, but I wonder if anyone has seen what they are doing with the entries.
They have two divisions now, elite and emerging elite. The qualifying standard for emerging elite is 10'9" and elite is 12'.
Now from time to time they do accept entries below standards. They have one section of emerging elite and they were suppose to have two sections of elite, a seeded and unseeded section.
Now this is a slow year for girls high school pole vault, but also with the entries they received there are 50 girls competing on Friday for the emerging elite section, and they now only have one section of 16 elite girls on Sunday. There are quite a few girls jumping on Friday who have pr's of 11'9" who could have jumped on Sunday in an unseeded section of elite girls. Now for $40 of an entry fee I don't understand why they would squeeze 50 girls into a competition. That doesn't seem right, especially for a meet that is expensive and suppose to be run well. At the very least they should have split the emerging elite girls into two sections.
Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Re: New Balnce Indoor Nationals
I saw a tweet from a kid indicating they were being moved up to the elite section?
50 girls is insane. I think when I was competing at NAIAs, we had around 40 girls one year, and 30 the next. It was nutzo. Looooong warmups.

Fifty athletes... for tomorrows 10AM vault??
Ugh! I sure hope you are wrong.. That will really stress out my crew knowing that.
How many for the boys "EE"? That is supposed to follow the girls "EE" at 1PM.
I'm feeling a little woozy now.

Not sure on the boys, but I feel ya. That's why I don't understand why they didn't bump some of the girls into an unseeded section of elite on Sunday.

Re: New Balance Indoor Nationals
Gotta tell ya, I had a girl in the EE division and was amazed at how well the event was run with the 47 girls that showed. The officiating crew was fantastic! They opened the pit for warmups almost 2 hours before the start time. Everyone got plenty of warm-up. Biggest issue was sitting around time for the vaulters that came in later or made their first attempts at each height. The waiting time didn't seem to affect anyone. The girls would check to see where they were in the 5-alive order every so often at the officials table and warm themselves up in time. Everyone was ready to go. Sure, the event went well past it's estimated time before the boys started, but it was run perfectly smooth. Props to the officiating crew. Phenom job by them and the staff helping with bar placement to keep things moving well the whole time. It was an awesome event!
