El Dorado, Kan. —
Several local track and field athletes competed recently at the Missouri Valley versus Ozark Associations track meet at Liberty, Mo.

Leading the way from El Dorado was four-time Pole Vault state champion Jaimie House. House competed in the youth Women division.

House took first place by clearing the bar at 12 feet 9 inches, which consequently is the new all- time best jump for a high school girl in Kansas. House won her fourth consecutive state championship with a jump of 12 feet. House had a previous high of 12 feet 5 inches. House is also a finalist for Girls Track Athlete of the Year on catchitkansas.com.

El Dorado’s Gage Armstrong, competing in the intermediate boys division, was good enough for third place in the Pole Vault by clearing at 11 feet. Armstrong set a new personal best by a whole foot.

Kelcie Gregg of El Dorado also placed in the competition with her vault of seven feet six inches. Gregg’s efforts in the intermediate girls division earned her fourth place though she struggled most of the day.

Hanna Boline from Leon and Bluestem High School competed in the intermediate girls division and was able to place fifth with a new personal record of seven feet.

Up next for these athletes is another meet as they will be participating in the Junior Olympic Trials at Lawrence High on July 9 at 10 am.

The top five placers qualify for the Junior Olympics that will be held at Wichita State University.
