Placing at meets
At a meet I was in I tied for a place even tho I passed to a higher height than the other person, so I was wondering if passing on a height was the same thing as clearing on your first attempt?

Re: Placing at meets
A vaulter gets no credit for a height he passed. The only thing that matters is what height you both cleared. If you both cleared the same height, then the rules for 'tie breaking' come into play. The first test is the vaulter with the fewest number of trials at the height you both cleared, gets the higher place. If the tie still remains, the vaulter with the fewest total number of unsuccessful trials for the entire competition gets the higher place. Passes do not count as misses.
