Rancho Bernardo's defending state pole vault champion, Emily Mattoon, didn't compete because of an offseason foot operation. She's been running and plans to start jumping again this week.

Emily has been really positive about it all from what I've seen and still never misses practice. She is really nice and incredibly helpful too! I hope she does amazing this season.
