Becoming an all american
Does anyone know how you can become an all american in high school for pole vaulting? i would think you would have to make a standard or place at certain meets but i can't find this info anywhere! thanks!
In polevault the standards are set just a little higher

The easiest way is to go to national meets such as Nike indoor nationals or National Scholastics Indoor Championships for indoor meets or either Jr. Olympics, AAU Jr. Olympics or Youth nationals outdoors... Youth nationals is usually an easier meet this year 4.05m was All-American which is 13 feet 3.5 inches. The last way is to Jump high and get on some list. Trackandfieldnews.com makes a list which is the top 3 jumps of the year and others make little list like that. The other list like that that makes All Americans is http://www.eliteyouth.com but you have to jump that at certain meets during the summer.
pain is only temporary victory is forever

The Track and Field News All-Americans are the only ones that really mean anything. You can go to a number of other meets and win a piece of paper that says that award but it doesn't mean as much. There is no "official" all american for high school track and field.

I think your focus should be on clearing the highest height you can in any meet. Work out hard, lift hard, run hard.
You must have athleticism and most importantly you must have desire. I would rather clear 17'0" and not be on a list, than 13'0" and be an all american.
But I am old school
