The top 4 boys all looked capable of 17' today but none cleared it. If Jack Whitt wouldn't delay his swing so much he could probably jump 17'8" or so right now. I swear they had time to do the national anthem between the time he took off and swung.

Rachel and Shade both looked in 14' form. Shade jump 13'4" easily from 12 steps. Rachel blew up 13' and had a ton of height over 13'4" but caught it on the backside twice and blew threw on the other jump. Freshman Wren Bonner easily cleared 12'6" but her 12' jump may have been enough for 13'.

Wow!!! Jack has only been jumping with a coach for eight months. He has improved 27 inches in that time. He will be at 17.06 or better this time next year. I kinda took that comment as a put down, I hope i am wrong. Jack's dad

oh not at all. He's scary talented! I'd be shocked if he doesn't jump 18' next year.

Looks like my prediction from last year after the Texas Relays was off a bit on Jack.

I'm sure he'll get the national record at the Relays this year since I'll be out of town through Friday night and will miss that competition.
