No more early signing period, but people are starting to verbally commit, so we might as well get the list started.

Abby Schaffer of PA has verbally committed to Virginia Tech.

Bison track teams get 2 S.D. standouts

The Bison men’s and women’s track teams got verbal commitments from two Watertown, S.D., standouts.

Brad Monahan is the defending boys state champion in the triple jump and holds the school record at 47 feet, 3 inches, which is the third best leap in South Dakota prep history.

Leslie Brost is a two-time state champ in the pole vault. Her state record of 13-0 is fourth best among seniors in the United States, according to Watertown head coach Vic Godfrey. Brost also ran a leg on the state champion 1,600 relay and was second in the triple jump.

She was the 2007 Gatorade Athlete of the Year.

Hays’ Doyle to be a Longhorn
By Rick Cantu | Monday, February 4, 2008, 11:11 AM
Jessica Doyle, a senior pole vaulter from Hays High School, who has been to the state track and field meet three straight years at Mike Myers Stadium, will make that venue her college home.

Doyle will sign a letter-of-intent Feb. 11 to compete for the University of Texas track and field team. She will make it official at a ceremonial signing at the school.

Doyle was the Class 4A gold-medal winner in last spring’s pole vault, clearing the bar at a personal-best 12 feet 9 inches. She won a silver medal at state as a freshman and bronze as a sophomore.

She will look to gain a medal for the fourth straight year this spring.

This was the best news I got a couple of weeks ago. If she went anywhere else, I had no idea who'd babysit, dog sit, and house sit for me! Who would willingly help me unload sheet rock for my never ending remodel? (BTW, Pride if you read this...i need help moving furniture to the garage and some sheet rock to the master bath, call me :P ...seriously)
