Nico Weiler 17' 2" California State Meet Record
He's a junior from Germany. Too bad he can only compete one year for a high school in the US.

He mentioned in an interview that he's debating whether to stay in Los Gatos for his senior year.

i'm pretty sure that a transfer student from out of the country can only stay for one year, i may be wrong tho...

He's free to move here if he wants. He just won't be an "exchange student".

just a thought but do records count if its by a foreign exchange student? or SHOULD they count...?

I know that in swimming, they count toward school and state records, since they are enrolled in the school and citizens in that state. But for national records, i dont know, since they arent actually citizens of this country. It seems to me that since we can travel to different states and compete, and it would count toward your original states records, that it should count toward their original countries records as well. But idk, obviously.

The HS National Javelin record is held by a Finn exchange student.

You are correct. I got confused. I asked this question on the TFN board a while back. A Finn exchange student received the TFN #1 ranking. I'm old. Leave me alone.

EDIT: Art Skipper has the record for the old javelin. The Finn has the record for the new javelin.

So it can be done, i assume. An exchange student can hold a national record when though he/she isnt a full time citizen. Interesting.... i'd say with the way things are going with nico, if he comes back next year we'd better all watch out!!

Not to be pain here but I thought they moved the Center of Gravity in the javelin in 1986, making Skipper to have setting the record with the new javelin. please, I'd like to know where you find this Finn has the national HS record.
