Pole Problems is not what you need at a time like that

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Sun Mar 11, 2007 8:58 am

Pole Problems is not what you need at a time like that.
Maston was ready to move to 15'9" pole but check this out readers he stayed on his 15' poles with a 14'10" grip and was as high as 17'7" over the bar.
So that was an efficiency of and a 39" push off (corrected 3/12/07)
One guy was there on 16'5" poles jumping less than 16' which is a 5" push off.
Talk about POP on TOP
WOW

Great jumps by everyone all around. Spencer jumped on a 15'9 19.6cm flex for the 17'1, and then got on the brand new 19.2cm for the 17'7 jumps. Turns out it feels softer than the 19.6 for one reason or another, so he went back to the 19.6 for his last two. We dont have bigger poles than that... but i gaurantee we will soon!! Standards were at 75 for the last jump, but when you do everything right and go through, theres not a lot you can do. But congrats everyone, awesome meet!

I have video of the boys, but I also have a final tomorrow morning, so it might be a day or two.

That was an awsome competiton it had the potential to go either way both Spencer and Maston as well as Hall did a great job with all in the hunt.
Congrats
That is a good jump on that size pole I hear he had also a 32" push is that correct? holding 15'2"???

Great competition! Several PR's flying around and the atmosphere was awesome! Congratulations to all the boys that jumped yesterday!

Special congrats to Maston and his dad, Britt, for such an outstanding performance! What a class act young man with tremendous talent and unlimited potential!

Out of all of the meets I have traveled the country for with my kids, this one was the most special to date.

Thank you Becca for all you do for the pole vault! Good luck to you with your coaching endeavors.

Also, a huge thanks to Paul Richards down there in Midlothian, Texas for making such great Altius poles that my kids are proud to use!

Altius and ESSX two TX companies Grin

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:06 pm

Hey Paul
Altius and ESSX two TX companies against all those other brands go figure.
A lot to be said for poles that time well so you can move to them efficiently.

Thanks Bruce! The transition to longer poles is really starting to come around for Spencer. He had a 31" push-off to make 17'01" and his pole speed seems to be as fast as with the shorter poles. His best push is 41.5" (17'03.5" holding 14'06") so there's a lot of room for improvement.

That is impressive

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Mon Mar 12, 2007 8:45 am

That is impressive and a tribute to those who come with 16'5" poles and these boys beat them.

I have always been a fan of pole vaulting and not pole jumping grin
I see you are too
Good Job Coach
Kind of funny how I hear that ESSX and Altius do not have the POP AT THE TOP smile. This really disproves that notion
