That's too bad you can't make it. If we qualify any kids from Lone Star to AAUs, I'll be up there since Kris will be in Spain with Francisco.

heh is it hard to qualify down there??..
at my meet. there were only 2 jumpers. well 3 but the other one was in a lower age group by himselfd. only vaulted once and almost made it. adn then the other kid wasnt soo good. got lik e9' i didnt think i was even gonna make it b4 the meet. looking at last years results i think i saw a bunch of 11'-12' kids so i thought iw as gonna be a cool meet.

Both JO's this year are at great stadiums. Drake stadium has a good facility and the have an EElite competion there during track season and Hayward field is just awesome,.
i think before my days are done.

i think by drake stadium he probably means drake university.
i actually jumped in the college/university division at drake this year and they have an interesting track. vault runway is nice setup and that track has a lot of history behind it. of course for the elite competition at drake this year they had those guys jump indoors due to the weather. their indoor facility looks historic also, but just because it is incredibly small and old. they had to alternate vault and high jump attempts they it was so crampt in there.

being from the great state of illinois which is next to iowa i can assure that corn is not the only thing in that state. much like illinois, they have plenty of soybeens too. seriously though Des Moines, IA is a pretty decent sized city where you would probably be able to find something to do.

just remember, a state where one of the most popular sports is wrestling cant be all bad. it just kind of sucks for them that they are the only state in the contiguous 48 that doesnt have high school pole vault.

oh, and one more thought on junior olympics, at least usatf that is. it can be a very humbling experience. i remember graduationg high school as a 15' vaulter and thinking i was pretty good but then i competed against donaven kilmartin and chase shealy who had just finished their sophomore years and were going around 16.

I don't think many people jumped as well as they had hoped, especially with a nice tail. I know I didn't. :crying:
