Many on staff favor the idea of not building very long runways and forcing people to use shorter runs, but there's no perfect/easy way to do that. Some athletes are ready for a long run at that point, some aren't, it depends a lot on what your goals are. If you are a HS senior trying to get a scholarship, peaking early and then working down and up again for your state meet in the spring may be your best option.

nah they shouldnt make the runways shorter they should leave the option to the vaulters like you said some people are ready to go long run
