at sectionals in nj, i saw this kid vault at 13'. he clearerd it, except one side of the bar bounced off the bar holder onto the top of the standard and stood still there. the officials ended up counting it as a foul. has anyone here ever seen this happen before?

Yes. The bar was displaced from the pegs and it is a miss.

if the bar bounces off the pegs and lands back on the pegs it started on, it is still a clearance. It can't land anywhere else (lower pegs or on top of the standards)

Happened twice during the 2004 trials. One might see this one a year, but twice in the same meet is unusual.

Cool thing about vaulters is that more often than not it's the vaulter reminding the officials that it's a foul.
