National Indoor Record Already

Unread postby vaultfan » Mon Dec 27, 2004 8:27 pm

From Dyestat:

Mary Saxer 13-5.25 PV - Lancaster NY senior, the latest addition to Rick Suhr's Buffalo NY vaulting stable, won at the International Youth Meet of Champions in Toronto 12/3, marking the fourth straight year the US girls indoor has been broken. Saxer edged her Suhr teammate Tiffany Maskulinski, national outdoor champion at AOC Raleigh last June, while still another Suhr pupil, Jenn O'Neil, second at Raleigh, is sidelined with a stress fracture.

Congratulations to Mary!

Ok, so what is Suhr doing that the rest of us aren't?

from watching Mary vault and many of his other vaulters of the area, I think his "free" takeoff is important, but I noticed that his vaulters are on huge sticks, Like most of his guys are on large 15's to 16's, and the girls are on pretty good 13's

With all the attention on Suhr's training regimen from the other posts, let's not forget the athlete. Mary Saxer also happened to win the NY state outdoor championship in the long jump by more than a foot last spring, with a jump over 19 feet. In short, we have a combination of a track athlete with great ability who has joined a coach/club with a proven track record for producing pole vaulters at the top of the national leader boards.
