Mark Strawderman is trying to bring the sport of pole vault to Rhode Island. (Video)

I was unaware that Rhode Island didn't have pole vault...

They've got it outdoors but not indoors (just like MA, NH & VT here in New England). With the finished construction of a new facility in Providence (seen in the video) they have some limited opportunities now but it's still an exhibition event in a very few indoor comps as far as I know...

Yeah. Now that I run my club "Mansfield Athletics Pole Vault Club" at The University of Vermont ( trying to keep it there year-round ), there's no reason Vermont could not adopt the pole vault as part of our HS indoor season, especially since all but 2 meets are held at UVM. My goal is to get the vault as an exhibition event for the 2010/2011 Vermont HS Indoor season. UVM has been an amazing support for my club.
