Re: Tips on keeping the left leg straight?
I would suggest high bar swings and long swings onto the pit. Long swings being from six steps with a pole that bends somewhat easy and a turn at the end landing on your stomach. The best advice I can give you is to keep the left leg dynamic and strong. At takeoff there must be a slight bend in the ...

Re: Analysis/Critique of 5.30m vault
Never knew if bunnies could be classified as intelligent or remedial. I wonder if this relates to the size of their cerebellum or not ;) Anyways, the changes that I think I can start immediately working on is the early pole drop and late plant with the correction to the left hand/wrist. I remember r...

Re: Analysis/Critique of 5.30m vault
Okay I have couple of questions then. 1) In the approach, should the left hand always be positioned in the center of the chest line? Or in other words will the pole tip remain to the left of the vaulter throughout the whole run going into the plant? Does the left hand remain at the same height or le...

Re: Analysis/Critique of 5.30m vault
Altius, I knew someone would catch that. I think I was over compensating with my pole carry to make sure I would have the bend right at plant. Sometimes, because of a tight grip, the pole does not fully rotate in my left hand as it should. But I do understand what you are saying. I think more walkin...

Re: Analysis/Critique of 5.30m vault
Here is the same jump at 5.30m from a different camera and angle. Sorry for the poor video quality but I think it is decent. The first two are in regular motion and the last two are in slow motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xid26U-VBMU&feature=plcp&context=C3166572UDOEgsToPDskJPGbJGe3nt...

Analysis/Critique of 5.30m vault
Hi everyone, This jumps comes from this past weekend. I am running from a total of 16 strides or 8 lefts depending on how you count. My approach starts at 109'6"- 109'8" and i had a consistent mid mark of about 51' - 51'4". I was gripping 15'2" and had a consistent takeoff for th...

Re: Follow me on my journey to 16'
Maybe you should talk to your high school coach. Becoming an athlete or vaulter should be something that one should strive to achieve throughout his or her life. Not in 4 years or so. You can fully develop in that short of a time period. Like with Bubka, Petrov prepared him to vault his best in seni...

Re: Broken Carbon defect?
I don't think I saw any overload on the pole it self and I don't see any or much stress being placed on the pole at the instance of takeoff (mainly if you were under the top hand at takeoff on this jump). Personally, and again personally , the Carbon FX poles being made today seem rather unsafe and ...

Re: Where to focus?
Good illustration of the sprinter. I would also like to add something from BTB. Not 100% sure about this reference but I believe the book references Bubka (on his first 6m in particular) looking through the figurative window in which his arms have created at takeoff. As he has resisted any "pus...

HIGHLY interested in 4.60, 4.75, 4.90 UCS Spirit Series
Hi, I am extremely interested in the above series of poles whether they be new or used. I am wanting to make the switch to Spirits because of obvious safety reasons and for the technical model that I am aiming for. Please provide any information on what poles you might want to sell including the len...

Are you wanting to sell them all? I might possibly be interested in the 180 and 185.
