Jumping For Joplin

My name is Lexie Schachne and I am a pole vaulter from Connecticut. I feel as part of the pole vault community I have a duty to look after other vaulters. Mariah Sanders is a pole vaulter at Joplin High School in Joplin, Missouri. Her school and her hometown were completely destroyed from the recent...

Re: swing is SLOW

Thanks so much for all of your input. I took into account some of your advice and it seemed to have helped. I worked on those things with my club coach and my new PR is 12 feet! Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my post!!

swing is SLOW

Hi, My PR is 11'8.5". I am a junior girl from CT. In my jumps, I swing, but very slowly. I try to swing faster by it is very difficult. I do drills on the rings-swinging bubkas- to try to increase the speed. I know that when I jump i need to drive my knee more, and keep my left leg back in a st...

If I know that I am on my midmark I can run hard, with confidence toward the pit. I know exactly how you feel about losing confidence, b...

Re: Running Through Vaults

i recently started going to another coach who is really helping me with my step. It turns out that I was elongating my strides on the last couple steps which was hindering my ability to jump up and run with optimum speed at the end. Also, I needed to change my run to not sprint at first which was ma...

Running Through Vaults

I am a high school vaulter currently jumping 11 feet. I usually start from 3 lefts, then move back to four, then five. However, when I move back to five steps, my step is never consistent and I usually end up running through the jump. When I go from 3 steps to 4, I move back 14 feet in the runway an...
