Re: US Agent offering cash incentive for elite male vaulters
ok so that pretty much wraps up exactly what I said. I mentioned that updating grandma on your meet is great, not faulting social media from that perspective, not even faulting social media at all in fact. Only that there seems to have been a shift to more of a focus on that type of thing, from T-sh...

Re: US Agent offering cash incentive for elite male vaulters
I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone making 20-30k off of facebook or tweet followers. If you jump 80 then you make enough money to sustain yourself. If you don't, then you just need to find a job and work; which all of the pre-mentioned professional athletes did by the way. They ALL worked at som...

Re: US Agent offering cash incentive for elite male vaulters
Perhaps an additional chunk of money offered to those that stay off the blogs, tweets, facebook and all the other garbage until they do jump high. Less self promotion and more focus on 5.80. Once the 80 comes, the promotion will take care of itself. We have some talent, so lets put the head down, fo...

Re: Shade Weygandt turns pro
I believe that is correct also. Spring semester would be pulled. The biggest loss from a financial aspect is her marketability. A college athlete exiting her last year with an NCAA title and 15' jump under her belt, will get some invites into some larger, possible "money" meets, in additio...

Re: Shade Weygandt turns pro
lets hope this works out but its a tough, tough road to travel. Unfortunately, 1 time over 14'9 a "professional" vaulter does not make. But hopefully she continues to improve, the US needs consistent 15+ vaulters and she has potential.

Re: Top ten College Pole Vault Programs in the country
maybe this thread has been played out but just in case- the lists need to be updated. The University of South Dakota has come on strong the last two years and now have 2 young 14' girls. The only school to have 2 vaulters in the top 8 at NCAA's. Their guys are on the move as well. A program to keep ...

Re: Shawn Barber seeks Canada pole vault spot in Olympics
I hope that's some misquotation. To say someone is going to jump 19 by the end of the summer almost insults how difficult it is to jump 19 and those who have done it. Lets hope that was meant to be 18 feet. Good luck to a talented kid!

Re: 40% of the top 20 ranked vaulters do not make National
Although not a big fan of the regional meet system because its tendency to leave home athletes that should make the meet, it does show fitness prior to the big event. Some would say it makes it honest at the end of the season.
