FEET LEFT THE GROUND--IS IT A MISS?
I am specifically interested in Missouri high school info but would welcome input about other state h/s rules. I am interested in "rule" or discussion on changing the current rule concerning a vaulter leaving the ground and not clearing the bar. Situation: A vaulter has started the approac...

If you're vaulting in a private setting (like in a barn) and the mats are on a "soft" surface, try framing them in with 2 x 4's just like you frame up a sidewalk. With the 2 x 4"s (hard and unyielding surface) being right next to the bottom of the mats it would be very unlikely a vaulter would hit t...

PIT SET UP
I would hope all vaulters, parents, and coaches feel comfortable discussing safety issues with the proper individual. Vaulters/parents to their head coach, coach to coach, A.D. to A.D. to improve any dangerous vaulting facilities. In most cases these improvements are not costly, i.e. moving the pit ...

A bill has been introduced in the Mo House of Reps (HB920) that prohibits any entity from preventing student/athletes from competing in or training for any sports event recognized by the USOC. You can see the bill itself at: http://www.house.state.mo.us click on "2004 Bill info" click on "Bill track...

Missouri 250 mile rule
Does anyone have knowledge of a MSHSAA rule limiting high school track athletes from competing beyond 250 mile outside the state lines? I thought I had read on some board a year or two ago about a nationally ranked distance runner from the KC area that was denied an exemption to this rule and actual...
