Re: Anyone Have a good workout routine
Lifting weights is a waste of time for young athletes. Too many simulation, coordination, agility, flexibility etc activities that are much more suited to the development of the athlete. Even if you have to put them in the weight room you should have them do Simple Circuit Training until late teens...

Re: Run, jump, swing... on the bar!
shouldn't you swing all the way up? in that vid you are bringing your legs to your hands. wouldn't it be better to complete the motion and extend into a pullover?

Re: Need to fix the face-plants into the pole
your problem has nothing to do with grip distance or any of that. i know because i had the same problem the past 2 years. and its fairly easy to fix. first you have to make sure that you are not planting late. so your arms have to be extended and in position to plant before the pole hits the back of...

Re: PV Camps
i went to the ucla camp last year and it was great. the stay itself is really enjoyable and they have a bunch of guys that know what they're talking about. there are about 50 or 60 vaulters and 10 or 11 coaches that take a group of 6 or 7 to vault or do drills. you don't get much time in with curran...

Re: Progression To 12 Feet
If you are an average high school boy of average height, weight, and speed, I would think to jump 12' you would probably be gripping around 12'6 on a 13' pole that is 10lbs over your body weight. That's not a hard and fast rule, but unless you are well over 6' tall, I wouldn't go to anything longer...

Re: Sprinting
before you do anything, just make sure you know how to run. from what i have been told, you should: 1. have great knee lift 2. run as tall as possible; never lean forward or backward 3. make sure your chest is always slightly in front of your hips 4. NOT move the pole around while you're running 5. ...

Re: drills to learn a proper plant (mostly rigid bottom arm)
hey guys thanks for answering my questions. i appreciate it. well i figured out the answer to my question (putting up bottom arm) on my own eventually and it turned out a matter of just doing it. just punching out the pole and looking at my left hand in front of me. my plant has got much better over...

Re: Colwick 5.72 at Texas relays
his double leg swing is the most insane thing i've ever seen in my life. i've seen it before with high school vaulters but man he has guts to plant that far out and just jump into it with both legs like that. thats just insane. i saw him at the UCLA invitational on saturday. he blew out 17'1" f...

Re: What's the overall best school to vault at?
UCLA is in the ghetto? what? haha what about ucsd, uc irvine or berkeley? oh and occidental? oxy is a d3 school and so doesn't offer vault scholarships but i've seen their vaulters and last year they had two guys who were hitting mid to high 13s and a girl that hit 12'5 i believe. besides that, they...
