Re: A Flexible High Bar
Ok the pole (purple) is suspended. The uprights are the brown. The cable/rope/chain/whatever is the black. The suspension allows the pole to flex and have compression (in the direction of the red arrow). The blue could be tensioned to the uprights just tight enough to hold the pole within maybe 8-10...

Re: A Flexible High Bar
I drew it with paint, uploaded it to photobucket, and used the [ IMG ] code. but I see what you are saying about more pole needed for it to bend. I have another idea, maybe the pole could be suspended? But still be in some way stationary? Its very hard to let something move, but keep it still at the...

Re: A Flexible High Bar
More good thoughts! I agree that the material needs to be made for some serious weight, and that safety precautions should be made. I usually do rings with a vault mat underneath me anyway. I am going to head to lowes to get some ideas and maybe a magazine with different flexed springs that are mad...

Re: A Flexible High Bar
Just an Idea that I have concocted over time....MAYBE you could drill holes in 6x6s or 4x4s whatever you use for your uprights in the high bar. then slide a small pole, lets say a 10' 110 or something through the holes and secure it some way. if the uprights were far enough apart and on the correct ...

Re: run...
My freshmen year, our track coach emphasized a lot of sprint drills and fast twitch drills before practice as part of our warm up routine. I think that helped a lot in all of our running form. Also he yelled out "dorsal flex! Knee drive!" while we ran. that probably helped too lol

Re: Old Poles
Yeah Definitely check that pole out! I was jumping at a meet at our local college, and I was blowing through my biggest pole BAD (sweet tail wind and fast mondo track runway) So the pole vault coach went to the shed and got me a 14'9 180 old old old old altius pole. I semi checked it out and it seem...

Sweetest Idea for standards
Ok hate if you will..but I came up with a (IMO) pretty sweet idea for standards. I was bartending this super windy college meet last weekend with one of the college teams distance members. We had to hold the crossbar up with bartenders until the vaulter planted and then we would let go. The wind got...

Re: back injury
Thankfully, the doctor said it was all muscular. I just got some anti-inflamatories and he said it should be back to 100% in 4-6 weeks. Our sports trainer gave me a rubberband and told me to do some exercises. So thanks for all your advice!

back injury
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0QDREyuRjw The day of, it didn't hurt that much. I even ran the 4X200 right after that. About 3 days later however, I could barely stand or sit for very long. Leaning my head too far forward hurts a lot. Our trainer said it was called delayed response and all I need i...
