Live updates from women's prelims

One wonders whether there is a business case for web casting niche events like pole vaulting, assuming there is a way to carve out the rights away from the telecasters. I am sure the javelin throwers, triple jumpers, shot putters, etc are grumbling about the lack of coverage for their events as well.

xc ruin pole vault?

I agree with Becca. High school sports are meant to be fun. There is way too much specialization in youth sports at all child hood ages. Other than injury, there is no sport activity in October that will ruin a high school athlete's ability to peak during the indoor or outdoor seasons. Pick any fall...

torn rotator cuff

My doctor told me that x-rays are not adequate for assessing the damage to ligaments, tendons and tissues and that an MRI is a much better diagnostic tool. I don't know what your insurance will support, but I am glad I had the MRI to reveal just what next steps were needed. Also, my doctor said that...

torn rotator cuff

Was it a full tear, with the ligament completely separated from the bone, or a partial tear, with the ligament torn, but still attached? I had a full tear, and it took about a year after the surgery to fully regain strength. I had a very good surgeon. However, to put his task in perspective to me, h...

Beginner to Bubka Feedback

I think it really helps, but it is no replacement for athletic ability and training. I am helping a high school track team with the vaulting and jumping, and I gave my copy to a boy who hadn't vaulted in 1 1/2 years. His PR when he stopped vaulting was around 11'. He won his first competitive meet e...

King Kong

Given there was nothing on the human side of the island except bare, sharp, craggy rocks, and little flat space for runways, it makes you wonder how they practiced to get so good on those extra long poles. Perhaps that is why there were so many skeletons next to the few flat surfaces available. Also...

I agree with Rainbowgirl. A friend of mine who coaches PV uses another test for beginners to assess overall their mechanics. He simply has them do (or make believe they are doing) a layup, starting at the foul line. This usually does a good job in identifying the dominant foot, as well as the person...

The May-early June time period you are seeking may be an issue for the USATF site because the summer track meets generally begin in early June. Some events may not be posted yet on the calendars. While on the USATF site, you can try the local or regional association calendars. For example, a New Jer...
