Howdy,
Are there any upcoming open and/or masters competitions wihin say 200 miles of Dallas between now and August? Is there another good website that would be helpful? I am new to the area and need an event to focus on.Thanks.

Where to practice near Dallas
Hey y'all. My wife just bagged a killer job in Farmer's Branch Tx. She is already out there, but we both should be settled in by next spring. I would be looking for a place to practice maybe twice a week. It would be hard to beat the deal we have here in Charlotte (division 1 university free access)...

Re: nike pole vault spike issue
Do not panic! Simply return the shoes for a refund and order some Adidas through college and apply the 40% to the total and you should be able to get some killer spikes. I would say anything is better than something you have to tape together or cut to get your foot into. Hit the local running shoe s...

Re: First meet back, 14'6" clearance.
Just curious, but you are holding well down on the poles you are using. Is this by design, namely to (in effect) bring the sail piece closer to your hands and influence the way the pole acts or is it just simply that these poles were available to you? I notice KC vault is also holding pretty far dow...

Re: Trying to attempt 6.40 model
Hey Walrus, When do you start to "pull like hell". When you know you are going to make the pit or when you start to sweep your trail leg or... It looks like it's working. We have heard it discussed at length, by Agapit and vaultman18, who I know and respect, but now to know a vaulter's int...

Re: Weight lifting low reps high weights?
I cannot agree that it is a good idea to discourage anyone from weight training. To the contrary, an intelligent system of progressive resistance training can set the course for a lifetime of healthy living. The many benefits of weight training are well documented. Respectfully, every young athlete w...

Re: increase runway speed?
I am pretty sure there is an article on the Neovault website where Dean Starkey reccomends pole runs be done on the track at maximum speed. You should check it out. One of our local sprint gurus,(now deceased) would swear by sprinting up hills and steps to develope his speed; low 10s for 100m. You s...

Re: animal cruelty
Your narrowmindedness is overwhelming.Did you even go to the website to educate yourself as to the topic?
Food can be derived from non-animal sources and anyone from down south knows cotton is for clothing.
You do not seriously think smilies and mad faces add wieght to your broad statements, do you?

Re: The stiffness of a pole increases exponentially
Here is what I don't get. We the consumer would have a better understanding of flex numbers if the manufacturers would inform us of how the flex number is determined. Specifically, the distance from each end of the pole that the supports are placed. For example, I have a pacer 13'6" 170 16.4. P...

animal cruelty
Hey Everybody, I got this letter today from the PETA organization. It outlined some of the truly horrific and barbaric cruelties imposed on dogs and cats in the illegal fur trade in China. It was quite shocking, moving and thought provoking. PETA is the butt of some jokes in the media and they are p...

Re: Weird question...
Hey Kyle, After researching the subject of protien intake further, I am inclined to agree that 1g per 1lb may be excessive. Also somewhat difficult to achieve.I deleted that part of my original post. As to the "moving" reference, I meant that having engaged in a very strenuous activity for...

Re: Weird question...
Kyle Ellis, I got my information about protien intake long before there was such a thing as a website. I am familiar with marketing, and of course the manufacturers want to sell thier products. They also put in a lot of research, because if they do not work, they do not sell. Unless I am mistaken, th...
