Re: Please help with 13' vault

First thing that I noticed was your take-off. I noticed that you're swinging right off the ground instead of holding that "Inverted C" position at take-off. This may be caused by being under. If you're under, your hips get sucked in at take-off making it even more difficult to hold the &qu...

Re: New pole.

How high do you hold on the 13' 130 and 13'150 and where are your standards? I'm holding at the top of the 30 and about 12'6 on the 50. Standards are all the way back on both poles. ATran, Why don't you call BJ and ask him what pole you should get. He has seen you jump 100's of times and will give ...

New pole.

Hey guys. Right now I'm vaulting on a 13' 130 spirit and I'm blowing through it pretty good. I train with Victory Athletics and I've vaulted on a 13' 150 spirit before with no problem. Problem is, my school only has a 13' 130 and the next pole up that we have is a 14' 145 spirit. I know that the 14 ...

Pole carry.

Hey guys. I've seen many pole vaulters start, and run, with the pole across their chest and many vaulters run with the pole completely on the right (or left) side. I personally run with my pole on the right side, but started wondering if I should switch to running with the pole across my chest. My q...

Re: which side to hold the pole

I would go with the dominant hand. Don't get me wrong, the trail leg is very important in the vault but if you don't have a nice high, straight top hand, there is no take off. I'm kinda in the same situation. Im right handed and just had a knee injury on my left knee. But I believe you should go wit...

Re: critique

Agreed with everyone. Keep that trail leg back and hold that "C" position for a split second longer. This should make you penetrate the pit deeper.

Your swinging up but not dropping your shoulders to get upside down.

Try doing some high bar drills.

Bubka swing ups are always helpful.

I agree with indestructo about your trail leg.

It looks like you swinging right off the ground. Try to hit that take off position with your trail leg back as a long jumper would take off.

Hope this helps a little.

New video with different pole

This is my first video... http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rzvv4bqPOv8 This is my second video after the advice taken from my first video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=F3X5yGZ7UP8 I've been trying really hard to tighten up my top end of my vault and turning correctly. I know I still need more bottom arm, so...
