ironic huh?

Well, after a horrible high school track season and recently few months of really working hard and reconditioning myself, I have now become to strong for my poles. I was using a 13'6" 150 bigstick, and I weight 150. Today at the meet, I went threw the 150, and a fellow vaulter let me use his 13...

So far I haven't gone more than a 6 right (I'm a lefty). I hit the free take off in maybe 1/4 of my jumps now. I was on the way to going 12' or above this season, but I ended up developing some real bad habits. Now that I am back in the groove of things (completing the swing, feeling the incredible ...

There's a guy that vaults for Servite. I call him Superman. When he plants, he turns completely sideways, and drags his legs completely straight. I was done vaulting well before he started, but from across the track he looked about 16/17 foot vaults.

any pointers?

Okay, I had a real crappy track season. I improved my PR 4 inches from last season. I weigh 155, and I and my season best is 11'. I can go a lot higher. I switched from my crappy high school track program, (where there was no pole vault coach, and no money for new equipment). I am with this new club...

I have a buddy on my team that has this same problem. Okay, What is happening, is you are swinging and everything, you get upside down, but you do not straighten out your body. It is essential to get your body perfectly straight (and it takes some time to get it down, look at the swinging bubka dril...

preparing day of pole vault

I was just reading up on my Sergey Bubka, and I learned that Sergey would get to the track WAY before he actually competed so he could check out the wind, the runway area, and every little detail. He also tried to avoid the media because they were distracting, and it was mentally draining for Sergey...

I'll make a new pole for votes in the future representing 45-60cm and 60-80cm Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm definitely vaulting safer and It is true that you need to put the standards back when you hold the pole at the sweet spot. It still annoys me when I straight pole because I feel as if I am...

Sorry to confuse you guys. I was a little vague. We were fighting over the standards because we were doing straight pole workouts. My Buddie's swing was way too slow, and he can't jump over 10'6'' because he sets the standards back as far back as they can go. He ends up aiming for the bar rather tha...

Standard Fight

Today at practice my buddy and I got in this big fight about the standards. He said that it was better for the vaulter to put the standards back to 60 cm so that you can get a full swing and more penetration. I told him that if you bring the standards closer to the pit it will help you develop a str...
