An update
Here is some video from this weeks practice. There are two shots at 12' and one at 13' (plus some miscellaneous others). I think my shot at 13' was the best. I was trying to work on keeping my trail leg straighter in the whip phase during this practice, but the jump at 13' was the only one where I m...

Re: This week's practice
Alright, I won't do anything with my head if you say so :D . Ah, I see it now. I really didn't notice that before. I'll make sure to focus more on the down swing part of the drills this week. I've seen the Amy vids before, but I suppose it's time to look at them again. Hopefully I'll get some actual...

Re: This week's practice
So combining what KB and altius have said, my head shouldn't do anything unnatural, but it should follow the direction of my motion. I think that makes a lot of sense, and I would think that forward and up is the "natural" position for my head. I think getting my head forward and up is som...

This week's practice
My last thread didn't get much interest, but let's try again. I only have 4 different jumps this time. I'm still jumping on a smaller pole (13' 140) and running a shorter run (4 lefts from 52') because of my hamstring. My main focus for this practice, was again, my trail leg. Obviously my trail leg ...

Working on the trail leg
Here are some videos of me working on my trail leg. First is a video of some high bar work. The second video is our vault practice from today. I strained my hamstring a couple weeks ago, so I'm jumping on a small (tiny) pole from 4 lefts. I moved up to a bigger pole on the last jump, but by then I w...

Re: Some pole runs and a couple of jumps
I did a search of PVP and read that article by Petrov. I tried moving my left hand from my left shoulder to right in front of my sternum. It feels pretty comfortable. I'll get some more pole run video as soon as my hamstring feels better.

Re: Some pole runs and a couple of jumps
Man... I completely forgot about that other thread!
I will continue to work on getting my run farther out. I think there was only one jump that day where I felt comfortably on. Every other time was consistently 6" under.

Some pole runs and a couple of jumps
First off, I apologize for the terrible video quality. Hopefully I'll be able to scrounge up a tripod before my next vault practice. Here are some of my stats: Grade: Senior (HS) Height: 5'8" Weight: 140lbs Personal best: 13'0" Typical poles: 13' 140, 13' 150, 13' 160 (meet pole) all gripp...

Getting on bigger poles
Do you guys have any tips for getting on bigger poles? Right now I'm jumping on a 13' 150 Pacer but I would like to get on bigger poles, hopefully a 14' 160 by the end of the season. Is this a plausible goal? If so, what are some steps that I can take to get me closer to that goal? I'm 5'8" 140...

Re: top vaulters this year
I'm hoping I'll be able to get up to 14' by the end of the season
.
I forget Tom Stacy's PR, but he's pretty up there, I think.

Re: top vaulters this year
I typically have some meets with Peter and Josh throughout the season.
What is a good jump to be considered "top"? At least around here we have a couple guys going around 14', but I don't know what the "top" is.
