Is McGinnis using a radar gun? Or, counting video frames over some measured distance?
Either way, I'm anxious to see what Lavillene's mps number is.

Re: Herculis - Lavillenie 5.88, Walker, Mesnil, Mazuryk 5.80
I was aware of Bubka, Huffman, Collette (sp? from France). I suspected Gataullin and Buller were around 10 as well. Never heard of Widen. I thought Duplantis was around 10 mps too. But I've never seen a formal 10.1 or higher mps measurement on anyone. I might have simply missed it. Perhaps Lavillene...

Does anyone know Lavillenie's speed in meters per second at the take-off? I haven't seen a vaulter that fast in a LONG time. I think it's possible he'll be the first 10+ mps vaulter.

5.10 Starting Height?
If he did have to start at 5.10, that's one of the higher starting heights I've seen a high school vaulter negotiate successfully.

In all fairness, being an Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics is a little different than being just any girl walking down the street ;) However much respect you think you should have for an Olympic-level gymnast, I can guarantee that if you coach one in the vault for a couple of years, you will resp...

I think he will too, probably indoors and outdoors. Here's why: 1. Not many saw it, but he *barely* missed 17-10 last year. 2. He's grown at least an inch. 3. He's *much* more fit this year; faster and hitting the weights hard. 4. He's getting the top of his vault straightened out. Regarding college...
