I look at my feet while i'm "inverting", which i feel is a slight improvement from looking at the cross bar. I still don't let my shoulders rotate under my hips, or get my head back soon enough, so i don't know if it actually works. Maybe it will work better for someone else.

The best helmet that I have found for pole-vaulters is the only one made specifically for pole-vaulters. The KDMax was created by Penn State University, the engineering firm Enventys and Ed Dare whose son Kevin died in a pole-vaulting accident. The helmet is truly one of a kind and it has many featu...

Being a habitual flagger myself, i have to agree with fx said. I tend to shoot my legs out towards an area just above the bar and when i feel like i'm going to make it, i relax letting my legs drop and hit the bar. It also appears that the young man in the video stares at the crossbar and never allo...

Before you do anything I would highly reccomend picking up a copy of Dr. Donald A. Chu's Jumping Into Plyometrics . You can probaby get it from a library or ask some of your coaches if they have it. The book goes over the science behind the exercises, how to begin a program safely, how to properly p...

What i'm curious to know is what will be the next evolution in technology that will enable vaulters to jump higher. The invention of flexible fiberglass poles was a quantum leap forward in the sport which led to the Petrov model which seems to be regarded as the consumate method. Until there is anot...

Best Spike Remover

Has anyone found a tool that easily and efficiently removes spikes without stripping the tool or the spike itself? I hear that Asics makes the best wrenches but some people swear by pliers, and i have tried a crescent wrench with some success. Also, is there any rule as to how often to change your s...

Balance and Stability Development

This summer, as part of my workout program, I would like to incorporate some exercises to improve my overall balance and stability. The gym where I go has a good amount of equipment to use (wobble boards, foam rollers, BOSU balance trainers etc.) but I don’t know how to properly use any of it...

lol ew. Thats the majority of high school guy pole vaulters though, insane kids who blow their hands off. Please, speak for yourself vault3rb0y. But in talking to that kid he told me that several other kids in that town have done similar things. Including a girl who lit an M80 thinking it was a can...

The only time I have ever seen a high school vaulter wearing a glove was at a dual meet this season. He was allowed to wear the glove, which resembled one for weightlifting, because he had blown off part of his hand earlier that year with a chlorine bomb. He was missing half his pinky finger and a g...

just a quick ques. don't you put something on the bottom of the box, it makes it slide? Nah, that slide box is best used on a runway or similar surface. It is supposed to slide, without being frictionless. The little bit of resistance that is generated helps improve technique faster than a box that...
