did anyone notice that at the last second before plant he slides his bottom hand to his top... this is a case for the top hand being most important when you vault, but I believe this is also the reason the he has no control on the top of his vault... it is really hard to have a top with a closed gri...

you should only be leaning forward while you are approaching top speed and this is only because you are accelerating... you always want to be as tall as possible at plant :D

it mainly depends where he is with his technique...

it also depends on whether you want to shell out that kind of cash assuming he is going to be needing more pole...

13'135 Mystic Carbon Ultralight


What makes it a "ultralight" I hear about them but never see them marketed...

Wasn't Essx going to come out with their version of an ultralight soon also... (possible called 'gold' if I remember right)

I am sure that most vaulters know by now that pole vault poles are typically made from E-Glass, S-Glass, Carbon fiber, or a combination of the three choices... Knowing that in quality Carbon fiber is prefered, but not by all vaulters because of its characteristics; then S-Glass is prefered, and last...

I think we all believe the same basic concept but are not conveying it well... to point this out:

Which is better...?

1) Your bottom hand in your face at take off (applying NO pressure)...
2) Your bottom hand applying pressure to keep you from the pole line...


Any thoughts???

I agree that people vault differently and have different styles with equal results, but if you have a plant where your bottom is collapsing like in the pics you are not putting all available energy into the pole and a lot of that energy is wasted and absorbed by the vaulters body... if the same vaul...
