Re: Head injury scared to jump HELP

I believe his real question is how you overcome a real fear. not who is or what went wrong. if you have ever been in a car accident then you know how you react after that to quick stops or other cars moving in on you, it takes time to relax and not panic. You get back in a car and drive but you use ...

Re: nike pole vault spike issue

probable the last thing that you need is one more shoe type, but I jump with Asics Turbo Jump and I love them. But they have very good heal support for when you need it and a comfortable toe box. Shoes are very personal, good luck.

Re: Advice for Coaching Middle School Kids

At this stage just stay with tech, and remember to let them have fun. if it's not fun they won't stick around long enough to become good or great. Try to pick out something that they did right or well at every practice. My hat is off to you for your efforts.

Re: Post pole vaulting life

Try Racquetball. If your are competitive and you like a good workout this works well, it can be year round. And the better you get the better your workout will become. you can compete in tournaments and have a great time. I know I am 57 and in great shape because of it.

Re: pv training

17 min in 5K is a very good pace speed, but pole vaulting is more about sprint speed, it would be better to know what your time is in a 30 or 40 yard sprint. That being said I hate to be a downer but pole vaulting is a dangerous sport if done wrong. That is why trained coaches are required, not just...

Re: Trouble leaving the ground

That probable the best advice that I have seen on these posts. Like the say with pro's and their sports. they don't do it until they get it right, they do it until they cannot get it wrong.

Re: Force at take off

a lot of use have had pains and strains. Some you have to be worked through, and some you have to rest and use Ice on. When it comes to work outs that help with shine splints (after the pain goes away) I found that using the leg press machine at a weight a little over twice my body weight helped, th...

Re: Width of Raised Runway? Is 24" enough?

I make raised runways and 31 7/8 is the minimum width that you will want to make them. 36" will fell better when you run on it. When you make them that narrow (24") It will fell as if you are going to fall off the side as you make your approach run.

Re: What are your personal records?:Weight lifting

Building muscle to help your grip, swing, and your shoulder and arms to control the pole are good, it will also help to prevent injury's. When weight training for pole vaulting, one should keep in mind that if you pack on weight during your lifting it can and will effect your approach speed. The wron...

Re: What are your personal records?:Weight lifting

There is a difference between powerful and being strong. power can come from being quick. I am a 56 year old master and a High School coach. I work with some very good kids, I am Stronger then most of the young men and stronger and faster then all of the young women, and yet some of them can out vau...
