Re: Euro Team Champs Men - Mazuryk, Mohr 5.72

If anyone's curious about the nature of the Stockholm competition ( detailed results ), I had the good fortune of being able to attend, so allow me to describe some details. Rain moved the PV indoors and anyone who could make their way to the facility in time could just walk in and enjoy. Must have ...

Re: Live: Stockholm DN Galan meeting-Jesper,Mazuryk,Hooker 5.61

No, Hooker's just fine. There were swirling winds, plus a bit of rain. Jeng got off the ground once, not completing his jump; Hooker also ran through about 3-4 times. Of the jumps they showed on TV, the favorites all seemed to be using the usual long runs, high grips, and stiff poles--a number of ba...

Re: Another Colwick-like vaulter spotted: Is this something?

Yeah, it must be him: Mark Johnson (transferred from Coastal Carolina to Auburn). This video is apparently from San Diego.

Has anyone out there tried experimenting with this takeoff technique? Is anyone out there trying to coach this?

Another Colwick-like vaulter spotted: Is this something?

Recent video of Jason Colwick from Rottach, Germany (July 13, 2009): http://www.touchtheclouds.de/fileadmin/videos/2009/2009_07_12_rottach/2009_07_12_jason_colwick_572_seite.mov I've found another Colwick-like video featuring another vaulter, and I find this take-off style pretty fascinating: http:/...

So Tim, you're saying that this initial pull helps keep the vaulter's momentum going forward, that is, the pull helps to "keep the pole moving", right? By virtue of the fact that the pull is keeping the pole moving forward, then it must follow that the vaulter's forward-moving momentum as ...

Great info from ADTF Academy and Tim! I'm finding the contributions of Tim McMichael in PVP to be invaluable in the sense that he is searching to articulate concepts that are hard to describe and grasp in words and even difficult to see conclusively in video. Think about everything that this thread ...

Did a bit of homework and found some interesting insights from agapit on another website about the second phase of the vault: * "Swinging" from the take-off until complete inversion is a natural motion resulting from a great take-off. That is, vaulters don't need to consciously start swinging direct...

Well, this discussion thread is all about a Petrov-inspired 6.40 model, which I'm assuming is along the same lines as ADTF Academy's "Swing Vaulter" description. That's the model that I'm focusing on here. Check out these photos on ADTF Academy's website . You see Markov, Bubka, and Isinbajeva in th...

I'd like to jump back into this discussion by asking folks like agapit, altius, Tim McMichael, or anyone else who is interested what the vaulter is actively doing to put energy into the pole and keep it moving forward directly after the take-off. It can't be simply hanging onto the pole while perfor...

Regarding Rogowska, She had plenty of height, but wasn't quite penetrating enough and coming up a little short on her jumps at 4.50m. I haven't seen many of her jumps, but she seemed to be coming out of her rockback too early and not allowing the pole to continue to move. Your analysis is right on, ...
