Tennessee Pole Vault Meets
Hi,
I was thinking about hopefully competing in some summer high school pole vault meets to stay an active competitor/gain experience. If anyone can recommend some good pole vault meets in July that are opened to high schoolers let me know!

Re: Meet Requirement
Two of these three athletes almost got hurt, and it was obvious that they were there only for possible team points. I looked at the states' rules and some have the requirement others do not. I admire that your trying to bring a reform, I hate it that the head coach is only concerned about points an...

Meet Requirement
How many meets must one compete in before a state qualifier meet (sub-sectionals)? I have heard one must have previously vaulted in two meets before a qualifier to keep it fair and an incident of such has come up. If you could answer my question soon I would be much appreciative.

Re: Beginner to Bubka
I would be curious to know what model Ferry and Jacoby teach? Or what Olympic Champions they refer to in their books as the technique to emulate? I know that Ferry primary objective in Modern Pole Vaulting is to analyze the components of Bubka, Gataullin, Tarasov, Trandenkov and Yegorov and break t...

Beginner to Bubka
Is Beginner to Bubka any good? I've heard that it is very informative but the book and/or DVD seem a bit pricey for someone who makes sandwiches for a living. Is it any better than some of the other books I own like Modern Pole Vaulting by Brian Ferry or Winning Jumps and Pole Vault ? Is the book or...

Re: General Competition to Peaking
This is why you can seemingly jump quite high from 3Ls compared to your long run, because you are still accelerating which allows for a more powerful jump even if you aren't moving that fast at takeoff. But even if it was more powerful would it be better to start working and getting more controlled...

Re: You Might be a Redneck Pole Vaulter
If your grandfather has tried to help heal an injury with a bottle of "All Purpose Horse Liniment and Foot Lotion" that he bought back in 1934
Has happened unfortuatly, problems with living on a farm I guess. My family is guilty of almost all of these.

Re: General Competition to Peaking
With my experienced vaulters, we work off the runway on a 6L run and get lots of reps. By the time championship season rolls around, my female vaulters move back to a 6L run.
Would you recommend any paticular drills or just hop on the track and run my steps out?

Re: General Competition to Peaking
Also peaking isn't something that really pertains to novice or intermediate vaulters anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. So as long as I can keep correcting my form I can keep progressing and getting better within the month? Just keep working on your short run vaulting, pole runs on the track and ...
