Re: Re-painting and re-finishing old javelins - Advice needed!

Yes Jeff, powder coating would not be a good thing for a couple of reasons, could affect the stiffness and the extra volume and weight of the paint could easily make the javelin either illegal (diameter or balance problem) or too heavy, your recommendation is correct

Re: Box Collar Choices

The UCS box collar does not in fact meet the ASTM, NCAA or NFHS rule so there still is only one box collar that is legal. Its all about the wings.

Re: RIP Alan Launder (altius)

Sad news. My thoughts are with Alan's family. We have lost a great friend and ambassador for our Event. I first met Alan after I had already read his book. Master (John Altendorf ) and I attended his 2005 Nampa camp as master's vaulters. Alan did not know me and I did not tell him of my background a...

Some OK comments a few partially incorrect ones. I worked with Dick Held and OTE building javelins so give me a call at 541-543-5007 and I can get you lined up with what you need.

Re: Lavillenie vs Bubka

Dave Nielsen did a study at the summit this year and he sent me some results. He and his assistants were looking at the speed of high school boy and girl vaulters with and without poles. Interesting study but at the same time he got competition speeds on some of the elite vaulters and while Lavillen...

Re: Accelerator poles

Todd The Accelerator poles were flexed basically in the middle while supported 6" from the bottom and 18" from the top using a 50# weight with the deflection measured in inches instead of Centimeters. Thus one needs to multiply by 2.54 to get a somewhat similar number to Pacer or Spirit po...

Re: Lavillenie to attempt PV "decathlon best"

I would second that Becca, plus I think his results in the 100m, LJ, HJ, and Hurdles of 11.38, 23'6 3/4", 6'11/2" and 15.13 respectively show that while Renaud is a good athlete he certainly is no superman, I am not putting him down, in fact it raises my already large respect for him. To m...

Re: Steve Hooker

Oh dj, I knew I could count on you, you are such a broken record. Of course a proper run is vital to success in the vault but many different factors can harm an athletes run. A bit unusual for someone of Hookers skill level to fall so far. Just saying if it ain't broke don't fix it and before he cha...

I know I should not do this but I just can't help myself. Maybe Steve should switch back to carbons and start jumping high once again.
