In Need of 15'7" 180 and 185
Is anyone willing to lend or sell a pole? I am looking for Spirit 15'6" or 15'7" poles with weight ratings of 180 and 185 pounds. I live in south-east Michigan and if transportation is involved, we can work something out. If you happen to have one of these poles just lying around, please r...

lifting off-season
I am a vaulter who could use some muscle, and was wondering what kind of weight lifting others do after or before track season. Exercises and Reps would be great.

poles too big?
Through-out the season, I have moved on to longer and stiffer poles. I think this can be attributed to my run and plant. However, I have had some problems with the ligaments in my shoulder (the top arm for me) and it is probably because my shoulder can not withstand the force. Is strength the issue ...

trail leg during swing
I know that keeping the trail leg strait during the swing is important to loading energy into the pole. But, it is later bent to help the vaulter get inverted.
When should this bending happen? Any other info about this part of the vault would also be hepful. Thanks.

Reading your post actually might help myself. Pulling with your left arm to get your elblow past the pole will naturally bring your shoulders down. In this way, both aspects are related. A look at some videos (Bubka's 601 jump in Athens on stabhochsprung.com is great) and you can see how the bottom ...

It looks like your plant is pretty good, but continue to drive your knee to your chest and swing your trail leg faster. Ideally, your body should be vertical just before the pole is strait. If you can, try getting on some bigger poles. I keep telling myself to swing faster and one of these days my l...

It seems like the swing is a major problem in too many high school vaulters. I know what you mean and have a problem swinging as well. The rope and rings are great- keep using them. To get the speed you are looking for, I think a more technical approach is needed. After a good take-off, the knee is ...

training pole
I have been using a 160 training pole to work on getting inverted and finishing the vault. I weigh about 150.
I was wondering if there were any special methods of using training poles or how this technique can be used for the actual vault. I don't think there should be much of a difference...
