I like to dabble in a little of everything. Pole vault, long jump, triple jump, 100 hurdles, 4x1 and shot. But I'd love, love, LOVE to try the hammer!

chewing gum while trying to vault throws me off so much. i'd have to chew with the rhythm of my steps which would be way too distracting and complicated. it's easier to just throw it out.

I live in Newport, RI and we have pole vaulting at my school, but only for the outdoor season. We have a vaulting coach who is pretty good and does anything for his athletes. So if you can find a host family in Newport, he'd be able to vault during the spring. Good luck!
