Basically what I want to know, is what do the elite/very good vaulters do with their bottom arm while taking off. Does it pull? push? extend upwards? I know you should never pull with your top arm, but what do you do with the bottom?

Bottom arm at takeoff

It's a fairly simple question (I think). Do you pull the bottom arm in towards your body slightly at takeoff? Or does it just feel like I am and I'm actually pulling it up? And if this is totally off base, what is it supposed to do?

Could you possibly elaborate on these body posture strengthening excersizes you're doing? It seems like that stuff would really help with a smooth consistant run.

Well I do not believe he believes in the big bottom arm just because he has never told me to do that before. He also keeps saying that you want to try and get inverted as soon as possible after planting, and I dont think you could do that with a big bottom arm (maybe you could, I dont know?). But I ...

I'm sorta confused by what you mean when you say to stay close to the pole chord. Wouldn't that mean you'd have to swing right off the ground or have virtually no bottom arm and therefore get yanked by the pole?? And which is better technique, staying behind the top, middle, or bottom of the pole?

Do you hang, or move to vertical off the ground?

I have 2 different people telling me different things. One says I should stay behind the pole as long as I can, and the other says as soon as I plant I should move my arms and swing to vertical. Who is right? And if possible, Why?

What do you think of these: http://www.dickpondathletics.com/produc ... sp?ID=2888. They seem pretty good, and they're cheap.
