Re: Renaud Lavillenie

Altius, what things do you see wrong with my running form, and pole carry, just to hear it again?

Re: Renaud Lavillenie

Thanks for your input! My runway has always given me troubles, and I wish I had more speed to bring down the runway. I notice that my running form is less than ideal, especially at the steps towards the end of my runway, largely affected by a sloppy pole carry, plant movement. While it has come a lo...

Renaud Lavillenie

I would like to start this post of by speculating that I'm not entirely sure where this post should fall... Also, Renaud is my one of my favorite vaulters for many reasons. With that being said, I have a question. The question is, how are so many vaulters able to jump so high while having less than ...

Re: Concordia Classic 2013

@altius, what do you think of my takeoff? I have put in a lot of reps working towards a positive takeoff.

@trayoates, thanks man, I've been having a ball watching my vault evolve!

Re: Polardog Invite

I see what you are talking about Tom! I wish I had some video of my vaults during our practice this last Saturday, they were by far my best ever. I moved back to a 7 step, on a 15' 145 holding 13'8" and (according to my coach) getting hip height at 16'. Over break, I made some (I think) monumen...

Re: Polardog Invite

I seem to struggle a lot with my last several steps of my runway. In the past I've been known to struggle with vaulter's block and from the video I'm sure both of you can see why. During the carry my bottom arm is almost below my waist at some points! I somehow get my plant up higher than most would...

Re: Polardog Invite

Right now, I'm working on keeping my leg straight and rocking all the back. I also think I need to row back into the pole a little bit off of the takeoff when I initiate my swing (which needs to start sooner). The last few steps of my runway can get choppy, because I take long strides out of the bac...

Re: Post Collegiate Training

I'm not so much looking at it as a means to pay the bills, more or less just to break even (what with traveling, training, equipment, ect.) I was told in high school when collegiate pole vaulting became a reality for me, that I would never be good enough to have it as a career. I've already exceeded...
